Go Green Earth…the Great Provider

Earth is the great giver. And because of this the world celebrates earth day in recognition of all her gifts to mankind. In the United States of America, it is observed on the 22nd of April, while the international earth day is celebrated on the day of Vernal Equinox.

The day is observed to make all of us aware of our obligations when it comes to our mother earth. The way we have been taking all that we can from this planet will one day be the end of the human race. We will have depleted all the coal and hydrocarbon. Same goes for all the minerals. We are extracting what all we can. The earth is our greatest friend but we earthlings behave as if we are the masters.

How Does the Earth Support Us?

The earth supports us in all ways. It gives us the atmosphere to breathe, the water to drink, and food to eat. It gives us magnificent beauty in which to make our home. The earth gives its all to us without any protest.

Yet we continue to be selfish.  We want still more from what all we get. We are not happy merely watching all the great natural marvels. The ice, the great plains, the tall mountains, thousands of different animals, insects, birds, the oceans and the marine life. The earth gives us all and it should be very satisfying to us. But unfortunately most of us have forgotten the spirit of thanking. We thank our friends for the smallest favor but forget to thank the earth. We take care of ourselves, our family and our friends, but fail to care for the earth that is our sole provider.

Recycle, One by One

So where do we start when it all seems so daunting? If I recycle a plastic bottle it seems insignificant because the damage to this planet is way past my 1 little plastic bottle. I decided many years ago that if I can’t clean up the planet at least I can take care of my own little portion in which I live. And if you think about that…and multiply that times the 307 million people who live in the United States alone…hmmm…that’s a lot of plastic bottles.

Green Planet

We really can make a difference. Am I a “green planet” fanatic? Not hardly, but I do care. I don’t have solar panels, or a house made of tires, but I do turn off the water while brushing my teeth. Wash my laundry in cold water and use earth friendly detergent, carpool whenever possible, use organic fertilizers and all the little things that can be astronomically important when we all pitch in.

Go Green

So what can we learn from this amazing planet?

We can learn the spirit of giving to make others happy. That is what the earth does. If we become as giving in our lives as the planet we live on, this world could be as beautiful as it was intended. I hope this website will help you with your questions and efforts on ways to “go green”.
