Making a Charger out of small solar panels?
I have a playstation PSP charger that is 5v 2A, so it takes 10 watts.
I have several small solar panels that put out 1 watt a piece and are 4 volts, 250mA
how can I get my 10 watts to be 5v 2A instead of 4v 250mA? the voltages have to match up right?
also, what’s a 3-T regulator that controls voltage?
Stack your panels in series by pairs so they are putting out 8 volts, then put 8 pairs in parallel. Finally, use a 3-terminal 5 volt regulator to get the voltage right. A pair of 7805 regulators (Radio Shack or mouser.com) in parallel will do the job. They come with connection diagrams. If you use only 4 pairs of panels and 1 regulator it will still charge your psp, it’ll just take twice as long.
