How do I build my own solar cells?
I have been searching through Google, Yahoo, and YouTube trying to figure out how I could make a solar cell myself. Everything I find is showing me how to make a solar cell out of burning copper and sticking it in salt water, that isn’t what I’m trying to do. I also keep finding things on how to wire solar panels up in a grid, that isn’t what I’m looking for either. I’m actually trying to figure out how to produce my own solar cells. Where can I find some guides that would teach me how to do this? It would be great if I can learn how to make monocrystalline solar cells from scratch as I hear those are the most efficient. Though, the other types would be okay too. Where might I be able to learn how to do this?
Money is no obstacle and getting a hold of chemicals is no problem for me. Never say never! Does ANYBODY know?
You don’t… You need a very expensive setup to make solar/photovoltaic cells. You have to be able to do complex chemical reactions and processes with materials that you’d probably have a hard time getting in the first place. And even if you could, they probably wouldn’t be very efficient. There is a reason why you have to pay big money for very efficient solar cells and “very efficient” right now is somewhere around 20%. There was a record set that reached 40% I think, but that is uncommon.
