Question about converting to solar panel? DETAILS INSIDE!?
I have a small fishing finder that takes a 12v or 6v battery. I see solar panel chargers that hook up to the battery and charge that.. but my question is:
Is it possible to hook up the solar panel to the fishing finder without the battery and run it whenever the bright sun is out? or do i NEED the batter for the finder to work? Thank you.
You need the battery. Solar panels might not produce the full power required on cloudy days or if not facing the Sun. It that case, the battery draws at a faster rate than the trickler charger charges it. Under full power, the panel might charge faster than the battery is drawn. And ofcourse, on extremely cloudy days or after the Sun has gone low or down, you might not get any charge at all. The battery works when the panel doesn’t.
